Peggy Charlene Bower (Charlene)

Peggy Charlene Bower, age 77, of Snyder, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Mustang. Born in Frederick, Charlene was the daughter of Charles (Dock) and Wanda Hamilton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jon M. Bower, from Snyder.
Charlene is survived by her sister, Arlene Riley of Pottsboro, Texas, and her two beloved daughters, Melissa Hayslip (Mike) of Neosho, Missouri, and Allison Patrick (Michael) of Mustang. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Kendall Hassall (Scott) of Yukon; Kyle Hayslip of Neosho, Missouri; Shaun Patrick of Oklahoma City; Makayla Kramp (Oliver) of Oklahoma City; and Caitlyn Patrick (Codey) of Mustang. Charlene also had two great-grandchildren, Lila and Alex Hassall of Yukon, as well as a special foster grandchild, Alice Walker, who preceded her in death.
Charlene’s legacy extends beyond her immediate family to the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved dearly. She will also be remembered by the countless children whose lives she impacted as a teacher, mentor, and mother figure.
A dedicated educator, Charlene taught for 32 years, retiring in 2014. The majority of her teaching career was spent in Frederick, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year. She was deeply loved by her students, as demonstrated by the many memories shared on her Facebook page.
Charlene and her husband opened their hearts and home to foster children, hosted children from children’s homes, and taught children at church. She was a Girl Scout leader, a 4-H Club leader, and a guiding light to many young people. Above all, her family remembers her for her unwavering love for children, a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Snyder, on March 21, 2026. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
Charlene’s love, guidance, and dedication will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
